I really the Lee Van Cleef must be the most under-rated of the Spaghetti Western actors.

If you're into Spaghetti Westerns, you should check out my Spaghetti Western Concept Rap album, called "Showdown at the BK Corral." It's basically an epic Spaghetti Western over 9 tracks - very influenced by Leone and Morricone. I'd love to hear what you think of it! Though I do agree with you on many points regarding Master and Commander, I've found it to be oe of the best films I've seen in a very long time.

If the film held true to the books, then the enemy of Captain Aubrey and his crew would be the Yanks instead of the French. I think the producers gave this a lot of thought and reckoned that having the colonials as the enemy would not suit the American box office too well. Maybe a good move on their part but personally it wouldn't have mattered to me.

I think Weir And crew did the books justice in all other aspects of this film. The cinematography was brilliant and I found no 'doldroms" in the Galopagos scenes. It was obviously a set up for the next interaction with the Acheron.

Though some of the more unsavory parts of nineteenth century Naval life were sweetened, I found that Weir gave us enough of a taste to make the film enjoyable. I'm sure he didn't find it necessary to have the crew washing their clothes in buckets of sea water and urine necessary simply to keep the film more entertaining to the masses. I wouldn't mind a good solid film with accurate renditions but Weir had to consider marketability to the general public. He may not have hit a bullseye with it but IMHO it is one heck of a film with a top notch cast.

Thanks again for your post. I enjoyed reading it.Bridgidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11303194633929469331noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398118200855168532.post-78772561030455054802009-01-05T23:08:00.000-08:002009-01-05T23:08:00.000-08:00A quick glance at amazon.com shows that Leigh Brac...A quick glance at amazon.com shows that Leigh Brackett still has quite a few SF and fantasy books in print.Stewarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13851948213274663081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7398118200855168532.post-36075366318963150302009-01-05T23:04:00.000-08:002009-01-05T23:04:00.000-08:00"Leigh Brackett," if I am not mistaken, also wrote..."Leigh Brackett," if I am not mistaken, also wrote some science fiction, bothe shorts and novels.
